Strand Core was founded in 1973 as a division of Industrial Sales in Baltimore, MD. At that time, they manufactured strand up to 1/8", primarily for the automotive industry.
In 1983 Al Brown Jr., one of the original partners, retained 100% interest in the company and in 1987 moved the company to Westminster, MD. The company continued to grow in capacity and capabilities and ten years later, they moved to their current location in Milton, FL.
Strand Core now has the capability to manufacture strand from .009" and wire rope up to 5/8" in diameter. They draw their own wire at their 30,000 square foot facility in Milton, FL. They are able to make strand and wire rope from bright carbon steel, galvanized steel, stainless steels, tinned bronze, copper, Inconel, Monel and other specialty metals.
Strand Core is one of the few companies on the government's Qualified Products List for aircraft control cables and manufacture cable assemblies for helicopter rescue systems. Additionally, their products go to the automotive, aircraft, medical, marine, and construction industries.
